As shown in FIG. 1A, in one embodiment, an electrophoretic device 110 is composed of first and second electrode regions 111, 112, wherein the first and second electrode regions 111, 112 each comprise electrodes 113, 114, the second electrode region 112 is arranged relative to the first electrode region 111 so as to generate an electric field in an electric field region 115 between the electrodes 112, 113 when a selected potential is applied between them.
