Abstract

Conventional portable terminal devices identify specific locations where use of mobile phones are prohibited only from electromagnetic waves emitted from devices and vehicles using motors, devices using digital circuits, or therapeutic devices, etc., and stop radio wave radiation uniformly depending on the specific locations; therefore, there has been a problem in such conventional portable terminal devices in that the operating environment is not taken into account and communication cannot be restricted according to use. A portable terminal device (1a) is provided with: a direct communication radio unit (2) for performing direct communication allowed for a specific use; a determination unit (5a) for determining whether the operating environment of the device is an operating environment which allows the direct communication; and a control unit (3) for controlling, on the basis of a result of determination by the determination unit (5a), the direct communication to be performed by the direct communication radio unit (2).
