Abstract

The invention provides a model-based passive balancing system and a balancing current estimation method, which belong to the technical field of battery balancing. The invention utilizes the characteristics of the MOSFET, and can apply a variable and controllable equalizing current to the battery. In order to eliminate the equalizing current sensor, a model-based equalizing current estimation method is proposed, which further reduces the system cost. An experimental platform is built, and the proposed QPBS is experimentally verified. The experimental results show that the maximum equalization current of QPBS can reach 10a, while that of PBM is about 0.1A. At the same time, under the condition of equalizing current requirement of 10A, the cost of the proposed QPBS main circuit is greatly reduced, which is much lower than that of PBM.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of battery balancing, and particularly proposes a model-based low-cost quasi-passive balancing system (QPBS) and a balancing current estimation method. Background technique [0002] Electric vehicles (EVs), photovoltaics, wind energy, and smart grids have attracted increasing attention as promising solutions to the problems of environmental pollution and energy crisis. Batteries are widely used as energy storage systems (ESS) for such applications. However, due to the voltage and capacity limitations of the battery cells, the battery cells should be connected in parallel and / or in series to handle energy and power demands. Unfortunately, due to manufacturing factors and usage factors, inconsistencies are unavoidable for cells connected in series. In fact, even within the same production batch, the cells can be considered to be different from each other. The inconsistency of the battery will cause the maxi...
