Problems solved by technology

In the existing ostracod fossil abundance statistics, since a left shell and a right shell may come from the same shell, and juvenile shells and adult shells are not distinguished, multiple larval shells may also come from the same adult individual, Therefore, the number of ostracod fossil individuals counted by the existing ostracod fossil abundance methods is often inaccurate, and is often greater than or far greater than the actual number of ostracod fossil individuals preserved in sediments.
The relevant conclusions drawn based on the abundance obtained by existing methods are naturally not scientific and objective, which greatly limits the potential of ostracod fossils in paleoclimate reconstruction.

Embodiment 1

[0019] Embodiment 1, the method for counting the abundance of ostracod fossils, comprises the following steps:

[0020] A. Distinguishing ostracods as adults or larvae:

[0021] Place the ostracods under a stereomicroscope for observation with a magnification of 60-80 times to observe the edge structure of the ostracods. Those with developed edge structures are adults and underdeveloped ones are larvae.

[0022] B. Distinguish ostracods as bivalve shells, left shells, or right shells:

[0023] Observe the relationship between the two shells of ostracods, that is, the left shell and the right shell. The ostracods with the left shell and the right shell hinged together are double-valve shells, and those with only one valve are single-valve shells; for single-valve shells, the ostracods The head of the ostracod is up, and the tail of the ostracod is downward. The one-valve shell on the left side of the ostracod is the left shell, and the one-valve shell on the right side of the ...

Abstract

The invention discloses an ostracod fossil abundance statistics method. The ostracod fossil is determined as an adult or a larva through observing an ostracod edge structure in a stereomicroscope. Furthermore a relation between two shells, namely a left shell and a right shell of the ostracod, is observed. The ostracod with the left shell and the right shell which are hinged is the double-lobe shell, and the ostracod with one lobe is a single-lobe shell. For the single-lobe shell, the ostracod is arranged in a manner that the head is arranged at the upper part and the tail is at the lower part. The ostracod with the single-lobe shell at the left side is the left shell, and the ostracod with the single-lobe shell at the right side is the right shell, thereby classifying the ostracods to thedouble-lobe shell, the left shell and the right shell. Finally according to the magnitude relation between the ostracod adult left-shell number and the ostracod adult right-shell number, different methods are adopted for calculating the ostracod fossil abundance. Through comparing the correlation between the abundance which is obtained through the ostracod fossil abundance statistics method and ageochemical index with the abundance which is obtained through a universal abundance statistics method and the geochemical index, the statistics method of the invention can more accurately and objectively reflect the number of the ostracod fossils which are actually stored in a deposit, thereby facilitating reconstruction of a paleoclimate.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of fossil abundance statistics, in particular to a method for statistics of ostracod fossil abundance. Background technique [0002] Ostracod fossils are good materials for reconstructing paleoclimate and paleoenvironment, and abundance is one of the most basic and important parameters in the analysis of ostracod fossils, which plays an important role in paleoclimate reconstruction. At present, the general method for estimating the abundance of ostracod fossils is as follows: firstly distinguish the number of double-valve shells or single-valve shells in fossil ostracods, and then add the number of double-valve shells and single-valve shells to obtain the ostracod Fossiloid abundance, where the number of single-valve shells is the sum of the number of left shells and right shells. [0003] However, ostracods need to molt 8 times before becoming adults, and they will produce 8 larval shells and 1 adult shell in their ...
