The invention discloses an electric bicycle intelligent control system and a control method thereof. The system comprises a motor unit, a control unit and a power unit. DSP+ARM architecture is employed for the control unit. The control unit is used for realizing fault isolation and fault-tolerant control policy functions and finishing communication between processors, and between the processors and an upper computer. An IGBT three-phase full-bridge inverter is employed for the power unit. The motor unit comprises a brushless direct current motor, a current sensor and a rotor position sensor. The control unit is connected with the brushless direct current motor through utilization of the IGBT three-phase full-bridge inverter. The current sensor and the rotor position sensor are used for collecting signals of the brushless direct current motor and are connected with the control unit through utilization of signal and communication interfaces. According to the system and the method, an electric bicycle is enabled to be driven stably, adapt to various road conditions and have very high safety and anti-theft coefficients.
