Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a fast re-route (FRR) realization method and a PE (Provider Edge) device, which relate to the technical field of communication and aim at solving the problemsof incompatibility of the VPN (Virtual Private Network) FRR realization scheme in the prior art and control complexity when a user-side link fails. The method comprises steps: after a second PE device detects link fault with a CE (Customer Edge) device, the next hop of route pointing to the CE device is switched to a standby next hop; first private network route is deleted, an ILM table item corresponding to the first private network route in an ILM table is subjected to delay deletion, such that when a message pointing to the CE device needs to be forwarded, a next hop is searched from the undeleted ILM table item, wherein the first private network route is border gateway protocol (BGP) private network route learned from the CE device; and when the first private network route is deleted,a standard BGP notification message is sent to a first PE device at an opposite end, wherein the notification message is used for indicating the second PE device already deletes the first private network route.
