Calcined diatomite contains no iron ions, which proves that part of impurities in diatomite can be removed by high-temperature calcination of the diatomite. Meanwhile, pore size of the calcined diatomite becomes larger while particle size is not changed greatly, and accordingly, part of dispersant and adhesive enter pores of the diatomite more easily in a coating preparation process. The molecularstructure of the calcined diatomite is changed, and water absorptivity is reduced due to the fact that water-absorbing hydroxyl groups of the diatomite are reduced greatly. By means of the impurity removal action after calcination, salt impurities in the diatomite are removed, and moisture absorptivity of inside salts of the diatomite is reduced. Accordingly, moisture absorptivity of the calcineddiatomite is lower than that of original diatomite.
