The method comprises the steps of: (1) background modeling: extracting front X frames of video and determininga fluctuation range of pixels; (2) image enhancement: reading images, performing histogram transformation and performing range extension on the gray scales of the images; (3) lane line detection; performing transformation processing on the images, performing add operation, traversing blank images and calculating the positions and angles of lane lines; (4) video speed measurement: defining two induction zones of vehicle detection, extracting the features of the vehicles and obtaining the real-time speeds of the vehicles via a virtual coil speed measurement algorithm; (5) statistics of trafficflow and vehicle type distinguishing analysis: judging the sizes of the vehicle types according to the pixel area of the vehicles in gray-scale maps and conducting statistics of traffic flow; (6) license plate number identification: if vehicles overspeed, identifying the license plate numbers of the overspeeding vehicles and outputting the license plate numbers to texts.
