The different types of the data packets have different importance to decoding and playing, so whether to retransmit the data packet is determined based on the type of the lost data packet; according to the packet loss retransmission method and device related by the embodiment of the invention, under the condition of not affecting the video playing, the number of sending the retransmission request is reduced; and thus, the data interaction is reduced, the time delay is reduced, and the network congestion is relieved.
