Abstract

A gas-insulated high-voltage puffer circuit breaker (1) comprises a puffer unit (3) having a movable piston (4) moving in a puffer cylinder (5) and defining a puffer volume (6). The piston (4) and the first contact (2) are attached to the piston rod (9). The arc in the arc zone (13) can be extinguished when the first contact (2) moves from the first position to the second position. The plenum volume (6) is fluidly connected to the gas nozzle (12) via the gas channel (14), such that the plenum volume (6) includes the gas channel (14) and a part (15) of the plenum cylinder (5). The gas channel (14) is arranged radially outside the compressor (5), between the cylinder wall (17) defining the compressor cylinder (5) and the wall structure (18) of the compressor unit (3).
