The gas meter comprises a communication channel dividing module, a communication channel configuration module, a data transmission and communication channel switching module and a communication channel redistribution module, wherein the communication channel dividing module is used for dividing N channels within a predetermined frequency, and one of the N channels is a broadcasting channel while the rest of the N channels are communication channels; the communication channel configuration module is used for configuring the n communication channels to the meter end through the broadcasting channel when the meter is mounted, and after configuration, the meter works in the broadcasting channel and the selected n communication channels; the data transmission and communication channel switching module is used for sending data by the meter through one of the selected communication channels, and is switched to the other communication channel for sending data when the communications channel is abnormal to sent data; and the communication channel redistribution module is used for applying a novel communication channel through the broadcasting channel when the selected n communication channels cannot communicate normally.
