Abstract

The invention discloses a design method and a VR (Virtual Reality) system based on virtual reality in an automobile product development process. The VR system comprises curved surface design software, a transformation plug-in, a graphic rendering system, a VR hardware kit, a driving and riding simulation cockpit, VR wearing equipment and large space multi-people sensing equipment, wherein the transformation plug-in transforms and outputs a digital model manufactured by the curved surface design software into a head-mounted display to present a virtual reality scene; the driving and riding simulation cockpit is cooperated with the VR wearing equipment to sense the position of a person in an automobile from the perspective of first person; and the VR wearing equipment controls to label and express a design change direction, identify a modeling feature line revision direction and achieve a purpose on revising the digital model in the curved surface design software under the environment through the transformation plug-in by means of the VR wearing equipment and a control handle in the virtual reality scene. By use of the VR system and the design method, virtual vision experience which surpasses a CAVE type can be realized without utilizing large space environment, and the requirements of the market on system miniaturization, low cost and use convenience are met.
