Embodiment Construction

[0017] Various embodiments of the present invention provide multiple systems and methods that can be used to utilize energy storage to provide additional power supply in a server system. The energy storage device can be charged by increasing a voltage difference of the energy storage device by using the boost element of the server system. In some embodiments, the status of one or more processors of the server system can be monitored. In response to detecting that one or more processors require a burst of power supply and it exceeds a critical high value provided by a power supply unit (PSU) of the server system, a boost activation signal can be generated. The boost start signal can reduce a voltage difference of the energy storage from the first voltage to the second voltage, which enables the energy storage to supply the stored electrical energy to other components of the server system.

Abstract

The present invention discloses a computing system, a computer implemented method, and its non-instantaneous computer-readable medium. Embodiments of the present invention provide a number of ways to use a boost element to increase the voltage difference of the energy storage, to determine a server system to switch to a boost mode, and a discharge energy store to provide additional power supply to the boost mode to server system. In some embodiments, the processing requirements of the server system are monitored. The boost enable signal may be generated in response to determining that a boost mode is required to support the processing requirements of the server system or a bottleneck component of the processing pipeline of the server system is detected. The boost enable signal enables the CPU, the bottleneck component, or another component to operate at a higher frequency speed to achieve higher processing power.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a server system in a telecommunication network. Background technique [0002] Modern server farms or data centers usually use a large number of servers to handle the processing requirements of various application services. Each server handles various operations and requires a certain level of processing power to handle these operations. [0003] However, the processing requirements of a particular server may vary from time to time. Sometimes, the central processing units (CPUs) on a particular server may be temporarily overclocked to handle sudden processing demands. During overclocking, these CPUs may require additional power from the power supply on this particular server. Therefore, there is an urgent need to provide a system and method for temporarily increasing the power supply to meet the additional power demand of these CPUs. Summary of the invention [0004] To solve the above-mentioned problems, the system and meth...
