Embodiment Construction

[0057]In order to overcome the problems identified above with existing data collection and analysis systems, methods and apparatus are described for processing location data generated from multiple sources and wireless networks (eg, mobile networks) for mobility analysis. The basic idea of the invention is to provide a mechanism to collect data only from devices or groups of devices of interest for the mobile analysis to be performed. This may be accomplished, for example, by receiving data from multiple devices of the wireless network and discarding all data from devices determined not to belong to the group of devices being analyzed and / or not of interest or relevant to the mobile analysis. Additionally, to help determine whether a device belongs to a device group and / or is relevant to movement analysis, the movement patterns of devices that have collected location data are analyzed to determine whether the device is of interest (e.g., by looking at which devices have been ...

Abstract

Methods and apparatus are provided for filtering, collecting, and analysing location data for a plurality of devices in a wireless network (e.g. mobile networks) for use in a mobility analysis of a group of the devices. Location data for one or more devices is received, for each device the location data includes a unique identifier. Determining whether the devices belong to the group of devices based on the unique identifier. The location data of devices determined to belong to the group of devices are stored and used in the mobility analysis and the results distributed accordingly. A relevancy analysis may be performed on the stored location data of devices determined to belong to the group of devices in which device information is generated that is associated with devices not belonging to the group of devices. The device information is fed back for use in determining whether the devices belong to the group of devices based on the unique identifier. Information relating to whether devices belong to a group of devices may be stored and maintained in a device database. Location data of devices determined to belong to the group of devices may be stored and maintained in a location database.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for filtering, collecting and analyzing received location data for a plurality of devices in a wireless network. In particular, the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for filtering location data of a plurality of devices in a wireless network and analyzing location data of devices belonging to a group of devices relevant for analysis. Background technique [0002] All devices connected to a wireless network create a large amount of data related to the movement of the device, which can be used in many application areas. It will be appreciated that the more "things" that are connected, the more data available about the movement of the devices. Specifically, by collecting location data from all connected devices, it is possible to build a model of how the device is moving, which can be used in many application areas, including the following examples: [0003] ● Track fleets to detec...
