The invention discloses an inflaming retarding aerosis polyamide arc extinguishing composite material which is prepared from the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 20.0-85.0% of polyamide, 5.0-25.0% of polyamide prepolymer, 5.0-15.0% of arc-quenching metallic compound, 0.0-15.0% of arc-quenching water absorbing compound, 10.0-20.0% of arc-quenching aerosis inflaming retarding compound, 0.5-2.0% of an aerosis accelerator and 0.0-5.0% of a processing aid. The inflaming retarding aerosis polyamide arc extinguishing composite material not only has a good inflaming retarding property but also can generate gas to assist arc extinction, has an excellent mechanical property, and is especially suitable for preparing miniature circuit breakers. The invention also provides a method for preparing the inflaming retarding aerosis polyamide arc extinguishing composite material. The method can be realized by adopting an existing twin-screw extruder; the preparation is simple and liable to industrial mass production, with broad application prospects.
