Abstract

The invention belongs to the technical field of biological medicines, and in particular relates to use of notoginseng triterpenes. Experiments prove that notoginseng triterpenes has the effect of resisting elderly anxiety and the effect of notoginseng triterpenes is related to the improvement of levels of GABA (Gamma Amino Acid Butyric Acid) and BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor) in hippocampus. Diazepam is used as a standard therapeutic medicine of anxiety; if diazepam is administrated for a long time, learning and memory abilities can be influenced; and but, notoginseng triterpenes has the effect of improving the spatial learning ability of aging mice, which is the advantage in treatment of elderly anxiety.
