Embodiment Construction

[0071] The following exemplary embodiments relate to the configuration and design of at least one lateral flow assay device for use in a host automated clinical analyzer. More specifically, this particular embodiment describes a lateral flow assay device that can be used in an automated clinical analyzer, which is typically configured to accommodate and process dry slide analytical test elements, in combination with an automated clinical analyzer. Implementation of multiple lateral flow assay devices, and related methods involving the interchangeable use of dry slide test elements and lateral flow assay devices in automated clinical analyzers. It should be noted, however, that this description is intended to be an example of the integration of certain lateral flow assay devices into automated clinical analyzers and / or point-of-care (POC) analyzers. To this end, the skilled artisan will readily appreciate that the inventive concepts described herein are equally applicable to nu...

Abstract

The invention discloses a lateral flow device used in a mainframe or a point-of-care clinical analyzer, wherein the lateral flow device includes a planar support, the planar support has at least one sample addition area and is arranged on it at least one reaction zone. The sample addition area and the reaction area are fluidly interconnected with each other and form at least one lateral fluid flow path. The lateral flow device is sized to be retained within a storage compartment of the analyzer defined by the hollow interior space and has a plurality of lateral flow assay devices held therein in a stacked relationship.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This patent application is a provisional application filed pursuant to the relevant paragraphs of 35 U.S.C. §111 and 37 CFR §1.53. technical field [0003] This patent application relates generally to the field of analytical chemistry, and more particularly to lateral flow assay devices allowing their use in conjunction with automated clinical diagnostic equipment, and supporting lateral flow assay devices to allow their cooperative testing (alone, or with other Analytical test elements and chemical systems combined) automated clinical diagnostic equipment. Background technique [0004] Current automated laboratory instruments for the analysis of immunoassays are relatively complex, difficult to use, have lower reliability than their general chemical counterparts, and have high production costs since assay processing often requires many mechanisms. These assay processing mechanisms include: those associated with wet r...
