The multifunctional virtual instrument comprises a computer and the constant flow source connected with the computer through a communication interface, wherein a tested component is connected with the constant flow source. The communication interface is a multi-function card or an embedded device. The embedded device is an ARM function board which is connected with the computer through an RS232 serial port, or a single-chip microcomputer function board connected with the computer through the RS232 serial port. According to the control method, a main control program controls the multifunctional virtual instrument to set the function of the constant flow source according to selection of a user, or conducts a resistance test or a test on an electronic load function or a test on storage battery performance or automatic calibration. By means of the multifunctional virtual instrument based on the constant flow source and the control method, four functions, namely the function of the constant flow source, the resistance test function, the electronic load test function and the storage battery performance test function are integrated on the multifunctional virtual instrument, and therefore the multifunctional virtual instrument is high in integration level, convenient to use and suitable for electrical tests in laboratories, factory product inspection, and virtual instrument laboratories in colleges and universities, and overcomes the problems that multiple instruments need to be arranged in application occasions, so that the usage is inconvenient.
