Abstract

The invention relates to a battery. The battery comprises a housing (1) and a plurality of battery cells (2) arranged in the housing. According to the invention, each battery cell (2) has at least one discharge valve (3). The battery further comprises a discharge pipe system for discharging gases released from one, a plurality of or all discharge valves (3) of the battery cells (2). The discharge pipe system according to the invention has a plurality of separate connections (4) for receiving the released gases and a common discharge guide (5) into which the separate connections (4) open and via which the released gases can be discharged out of the housing (1). The battery according to the invention is characterized in that a protective film (7) is arranged between the discharge valves (3) of the battery cells (2) and the separate connections (4) of the discharge pipe system so that direct contact of the battery cells (2) to the gases in the discharge pipe system is prevented.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a battery which is embodied in such a way that adjacent battery cells are protected from the harmful effects of gases released when the battery cells are vented. Background technique [0002] Battery cells commonly used in batteries, in particular lithium-ion batteries, have safety valves or vent valves that are closed when excessive pressure builds up inside the battery cell, for example due to overheating or evaporation of the electrolyte. The safety or vent valve opens and allows the substance, mostly in gaseous form, to escape from the cell. Thereby, explosion of the battery cells is avoided. The gases released during the so-called venting of the battery cells are guided out of the battery housing via a discharge line system in order to prevent partially reactive gases from coming into contact with other components of the battery. For this purpose, in most cases all battery cells of the battery are connected to a common d...
