Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a system for establishing a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol snooping binding table, and the method and the system are used in a process of migration of a virtual machine across switches, the virtual machine using a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) mode to obtain IP addresses. The method comprises that after being informed a work process of an original virtual machine being suspended, and before a target virtual machine performing a normal business process, a host to which the original virtual machine immigrates initiates a DHCP protocol interactive process as a DHCP client. In the interactive process, after receiving a DHCP protocol message with the IP address to be distributed to the target virtual machine replied by a DHCP server, the switches belonged to the host establishes the DHCP snooping binding table of the target virtual machine. With the method and the system, the host to which the original virtual machine immigrates can actively initiate the DHCP protocol interactive process, and the switches belonged to the host can spontaneously form the DHCP snooping binding table relating to the target virtual machine.
