Problems solved by technology

Due to the mechanical outlay associated with implementing the mobile platform and the high space requirement, the system is only limitedly suitable for endoscopic applications
Furthermore, the detection of two-dimensional images of the sample at different sample positions is relatively time-consuming, and when examining living objects, which are usually only able to hold a defined stationary position for a short time, this can lead to blurring of the image information
Moreover, in such systems it is not always possible to guarantee a sufficiently sharp imaging of the image information obtained from the sample

Embodiment Construction

[0059] figure 1 One embodiment of the invention for an OCT system is shown. The illustrations chosen here of the individual components of the system are sufficiently schematic and not to scale.

[0060] A first interferometer 10 has a fixed first reference mirror 11 , a movable second reference mirror 12 and a first beam splitter 13 . The light 14 of the light source 15 is coupled into the first interferometer 10 and is split by the first beam splitter 13 into a first partial beam 2 in the direction of the fixedly arranged first reference mirror 11 and in the direction of the movable A second partial beam 3 in the direction of the second reference mirror 11 . The two partial beams 2 or 3 are reflected by the fixed first reference mirror 11 or the movable second reference mirror 12 and superimposed in the first beam splitter 13 to form a third partial beam 4 which The third partial beam is coupled into a first light guide 17 in the output region 8 of the first interferometer...

Abstract

The system has a sample lens through which a light emitted by an interferometer (10) is focused in a focal point in a sample (1) i.e. biological tissue. A detector (30) detects a light that is reflected by the sample. The light reflected at different depths of the sample is detected by the detector during a change of an optical distance (I) of a reflector (12) to a beam splitter (13), where imaging characteristics of the sample lens are modified during the detection of the reflected light such that the focal point lies in a region of the respective depth of the sample. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an optical coherence tomography method (2) a method for calibrating & optical coherence tomography system.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of the following international invention patent application submitted on February 20, 2008: International application number: PCT / EP2008 / 052073, National application number: 200880005903.1, Invention title: "For optical coherence tomography systems and methods and methods for calibrating such systems". technical field [0002] The present application relates to a system and a corresponding method for optical coherence tomography. Background technique [0003] Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a method for making measurements of light scattered within a sample. Biological tissue is particularly suitable for diagnostic examination by means of OCT due to its light-scattering properties. Because OCT is suitable for a relatively small light intensity, and the wavelength of light used is mostly in the near-infrared region (750nm to 1350nm), it has no radiation damage as opposed to ionizing radiation diagnosis for biological ...
