The method comprises the following steps of: detecting the phase and amplitude of a microwave reflection coefficient of the thermal barrier coating by using a microwave network analyzer, calculating the porosity of the thermal barrier coating according to related formulas, and establishing the relation between the phase of the microwave signal reflection coefficient and the porosity of the thermal barrier coating so as to characterize the porosity of the thermal barrier coating by using the phase of the microwave reflection coefficient. The method is a nondestructive testing method; and by the method, thermal barrier coatings can be subjected to nondestructive and pollution-free testing.
