Abstract

The method for protecting reliability of a link between an access network and a backbone network comprises the following steps that: an access router starting virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP) protocol of a VRRP virtual gateway is configured; the VRRP virtual gateway establishes a virtual private local area network segment (VPLS) tunnel between every two adjacent access routers through the backbone network; the access router is connected with the VPLS tunnel through a built-in virtual access circuit interface, and the virtual access circuit interface is an access circuit access point for a VRRP signaling to enter the VPLS tunnel; and the VPLS tunnel carries the VRRP signaling.
