The invention discloses an embedded H.264 coding method based on a TMS320DM642 chip, which comprises the following steps of: realizing transmission and coding of input data and reconstructed data concurrently by utilizing the concurrency of quick direct memory access (QDMA) in the TMS320DM642 chip, utilizing a ping-pang structure as a basis and adopting a mode of transfer of the two-level data ofa band and a macro block; realizing intra-frame prediction, transformation quantization and on-chip loop filtering by adopting an on-chip data processing structure of data to be coded; and realizing the intra-frame prediction and motion compensation by adopting an on-chip motion searching window and an on-chip interpolation structure. A coder or a coding module implemented by the method saves internal memory usage greatly and can realize real-time coding of an eight-path common intermediate format (CIF).
