[0048] Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a prior art implantable fluid delivery system of the type described in WO2003 / 077785. The fluid delivery system comprises an introducer device comprising an elongated introducer tube 2 having a head 4 at its proximal end. The head 4 has external threads 6 to allow connection to a bore hole formed in the subject's skull 8 . The catheter device is inserted stereotactically into the brain parenchyma 10 using a stereoguidance device. In particular, the guide tube device can be accurately inserted into the brain along the predetermined insertion axis such that the distal end 12 of the guide tube device is positioned just short of the target point 15 (by a distance d). More details on accurate (eg stereotaxic) insertion of guide tubes can be found elsewhere; see eg WO2003 / 077784, WO2003 / 077785 and US6609020.
