Abstract

The invention discloses a method for resetting a watch dog in multi-hop bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD). The method comprises the following steps of: packaging a watch dog index number of a current BFD conversation into a received detection message through a packet delivery line card of equipment; and transmitting the detection message to a packet sending line card according to the line card slot position number of the package transmitting line card so as to ensure that the package transmitting line card of the equipment resets the watch dog according to the watch dog index number inthe package transmitting line card. The invention also discloses the package receiving line card, the package transmitting line card and the equipment for realizing the resetting of the watch dog in the BFD. The invention can realize the normal resetting of the watch dog when the package receiving line card of the equipment does not contain the watch dog and only the package transmitting line card contains the watch dog so as to guarantee the BFD conversation can be normally carried out.
