The method for acquiring the identification information comprises the following steps: using a domestic base station to send the distribution triggering message of the identification information; receiving the distribution responding message encapsulated with the identification information; and then, acquiring and sending the identification information according to the distribution responding message. The embodiment of the invention solves the problem of lack of identification information by distributing the identification information related to the domestic base station gateway. When a terminal starts a residential area updating process, the source RNC can be accurately determined according to the identification information, thus the occurrence of the routing error is avoided.
