Problems solved by technology

[0004] It is an object of the present invention to provide a relative "look and feel" of an aircraft passenger compartment structure, but without the possibility of a loss of seating capacity and a concomitant possible reduction in yield

Embodiment Construction

[0022] Efficient interior structures and modifications of airplanes and other aircraft are of value to airlines and customers by reducing the costs associated with the design and installation of cabin equipment, auxiliary and support systems. These actions often result in modifications to system delivery components, such as electrical wiring, water pipes, or environmental control system piping, resulting in increased costs and increased time required to bring the aircraft into service. The problem is magnified for those conveying components that must pass over or through the aircraft canopy and the lower bay or compartment, as current design implementations result in loss of windows in the side walls, or longer-than-desired processes to Repair boundary walls at front or rear side walls.

[0023] The complexity and cost associated with providing a system that operates between the canopy and lower compartment of aircraft and other aircraft has a significant impact on interior co...

Abstract

Architectural archway structures for aircraft. The archway structure can be positioned individually, or in pairs or other sets along the length of the interior of an aircraft, such as a commercial passenger airplane. The archways extend across the ceiling of the interior of the cabin and extend downwardly to a point adjacent the luggage bins. End caps are provided to conform the end of the archways with the interior luggage bins. The invention provides a unique 'look and feel' and architectural configuration, and does not result in seat loss.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to structural structures for use in aircraft interiors, particularly commercial airliner interiors. Background technique [0002] Today, the internal structure and construction of aircraft has become relatively standardized. Arrangements of passenger seats, bulkheads, lavatories, service areas, etc. have been developed to facilitate and accommodate passengers and crew. Passenger compartments are usually divided into two or more sections by bulkheads and toilets are placed accordingly. Allow corridor and aisle spaces between groups of seats and at access doors. [0003] Related application Ser. No. 10 / 688,624 describes a unique design for building structures, particularly archway components, that are incorporated into the interior design of aircraft, particularly commercial airliners. The archways may be arranged individually or in pairs or groups along the length of the aircraft passenger compartment. Archways are used...
