[0032] Referring now in greater detail to the drawings, and first to Fig. 1 in particular, reference numeral 10 generally designates a food seasoning dispensing cartridge constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Food seasoning 12 is enclosed within cartridge 10 and is dispensed in quantities from the cartridge by a hand-held dispensing gun 14 . The dispensing gun 14 has a pair of flanged plates 16 between which the barrel 10 is retained. Dispensing gun 14 has a handle 18 and a trigger 20 that can be depressed to operate the dispensing gun. A pawl 22 is attached to the trigger 20 and pushes the ratchet 24 into action when the trigger is depressed. The ratchet 24 is in the form of a bar with a piston 26 at one end. Each time trigger 20 is depressed, the interaction between pawl 22 and ratchet 24 advances piston 26 a predetermined distance into barrel 10 to dispense food seasoning 12 . Abstract

An end disk (34) construction and connection for food sauce dispensing cartridges and other food containers. The disk initially has a projecting peripheral skirt (38) which fits against the side wall of the cartridge. The end portion of the cartridge wall is crimped inwardly to fold the skirt into a lip which is doubled over on the peripheral area of the disk. The flange (42) formed by the inwardly folded wall portion encloses the lip and its raw edge to isolate the edge from the food sauce.

Background technique [0002] Fast food restaurants and other food service establishments use many types of food seasonings on sandwiches and other foods. Because fast food chains serve large numbers of customers, the sauce must be dispensed repeatedly in carefully controlled portions, each serving containing a relatively small amount of the sauce. Particularly in applications of this type, it has proven convenient to house the seasoning in a dispensing cartridge and to dispense the seasoning contained in the cartridge using a hand-held dispensing gun.
