Benefits of technology

The technical effect that this inventor describes has been explained by different versions of it's own words. These modifications can include changes made during production processes such as adding new components for better performance without affecting existing ones.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to improving visual acuity through correcting ocular refractivity/asteopsis errors caused by changes in optical power during accommodative functioning processes like viewing images. Current solutions involve changing dioptric powers or adding spectacles, but they may result in reduced image clarity when looking outdoors.

Embodiment Construction

[0039] Before the present invention is further described, it is to be understood that the subject matter described herein is not limited to particular embodiments described, as such may, of course, vary. It is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting. Unless otherwise defined, all technical terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by those skilled in the art to which this invention belongs.

[0040] The present invention discloses systems, devices and methods for overcoming the deficiencies of IOLs by at least providing phakic or aphakic IOLs to provide correction of defocus and astigmatism, reduce higher order monochromatic and chromatic aberrations, and provide extended depth of field for enhanced visual quality . The disclosed IOLs are sometimes referred to herein as Z+ optics or Z+IOLs. Related systems and methods are described in US Patent ...

Abstract

Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed that overcome IOL defects that provide correction of defocus and astigmatism, reduce higher order monochromaticity and chromatic aberration, and provide extended depth of field to improve visual quality at least by providing a lenticular or lenticular IOL. The IOL includes a virtual aperture integrated into the IOL. This structure and design allows light rays that intersect the virtual aperture and are widely dispersed over the retina, thereby actually preventing light rays from reaching detectable levels over the retina. The virtual aperture is helpful for eliminating monochrome and chromatic aberration and generating a high-definition retina image. For a given definition of acceptable vision, depth of field increases over a larger diameter optical zone IOL.
