The method comprises the steps of obtaining an input to-be-predicted image; calculating the horizontal direction gradient and the vertical direction gradient of the pixel points in the image by using a Prewitt operator to obtain the directions of the corresponding pixel points; calculating weight factors corresponding to different directions according to the sensitivity difference of human eyes to different directions; respectively calculating a contrast masking metric value, a fuzzy masking metric value and a brightness masking metric value according to the brightness characteristic value in combination with the weight factor; and carrying out nonlinear superposition on the contrast masking metric value, the fuzzy masking metric value and the brightness masking metric value to obtain a final JND prediction value.
