Embodiment Construction

[0027] The technology relates to a downhole wellbore communication tool that provides wireless communication between the downhole operating tool and the surface. The tool relays borehole information from downhole operations tools to the surface, and signals and commands to downhole operations tools. The communication tool is compact and can be mounted to bottom hole assemblies or various components of the drill string.

[0028] Some communication tools include a primary control unit and a secondary (or secondary) control unit. The main control unit includes a processor having a transmitter and a receiver and coupled to a memory device. The second control unit also includes a processor having a transmitter and a receiver and coupled to the memory device. The processors of the two units are powered by independent power sources such as lithium batteries. In addition to receiving and transmitting data between the downhole operating tool and the surface, each processor can commu...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling wellbore operations. The device includes a wellbore communication system, a control sub-assembly with a first control unit, a second control unit, one or more downhole sub-assemblies interchangeably mounted on and carried by a bottom hole assembly, wherein each downhole sub-assembly is configured to wirelessly send and receivesignals from the second control unit.

Description

[0001] priority claim [0002] This application claims priority to US Patent Application No. 15 / 807,314, filed November 8, 2017, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to controlling drilling and other wellbore operations. Background technique [0004] Wellbores may be drilled into geological formations for various reasons, such as hydrocarbon production, fluid injection, or water production. During drilling, a variety of tasks may need to be performed, each requiring a different tool to be sent downhole. The term "workover" refers to any kind of wellbore intervention that is necessary, for example, requiring the expensive process of removing and replacing the drill string, an operation that requires considerable time and expense. Contents of the invention [0005] The technology relates to a downhole borehole communication tool that provides wireless communication between the downhole op...
