Embodiment approach 1

[0089] Embodiment 1 may include a method for operating a blood analyzer, the method comprising: passing a control material through the blood analyzer, the control material including a first cell population and a second cell population; using the blood analyzer to determine the first a cell population volume measurement; using a hematology analyzer to determine a second cell population volume measurement; calculating a first cell population distribution width based on the first cell population volume measurement; calculating a second cell population distribution width based on the second cell population volume measurement A second value of the distribution width of the cell population; comparing the first value with the first reference range; comparing the second value with the second reference range; and comparing the first value with the first reference range and based on the second A comparison of the values to a second reference range classifies the operating state of the ...

Embodiment approach 2

[0090] Embodiment 2 may include the method of Embodiment 1, wherein calculating the first value comprises calculating a standard deviation, a coefficient of variation, or a measure of dispersion of the volume measurement of the first cell population.

Embodiment approach 3

[0091] Embodiment 3 may include the method of Embodiment 1, wherein, prior to passing the control material through the blood analyzer, characterized by a third value of the distribution width of the first cell population that is greater than the value of the distribution width of monocytes from the infected individual first cell population.

Abstract

Instances of the present technology may include a method for operating a hematology analyzer. The method may include passing a control material through a hematology analyzer. The control material mayinclude a first cell population and a second cell population. The method may also include determining a first cell population volume measurement and a second cell population volume measurement. A first value of a first cell population distribution width and a second value of a second cell population distribution width may be calculated. The method may include comparing the first value to a first reference range. The method may also include comparing the second value to a second reference range. Furthermore, the method may include classifying an operational status of the hematology analyzer based on the comparison of the first value to the first reference range and based on the comparison of the second value to the second reference range.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 578,239, filed October 27, 2017, and U.S. Patent Application No. 16 / 170,389, filed October 25, 2018, the The entire contents are hereby incorporated by reference for all purposes. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to operating a blood analyzer using a control material and a blood analyzer configured to use the control material. In particular, processing the control material may enable the blood analyzer to monitor and calculate parameters associated with clinical conditions including infection. Background technique [0004] Quality control has always been a necessary and routine procedure in clinical hematology. The accuracy of counting various types of blood cells depends in part on the use of appropriate control materials and methods of using the control materials. As many types of equipment for particle countin...
