Abstract

Unique systems, methods, techniques and apparatuses of a modular power transformer are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment is a matrix power transformer including a plurality of block assemblies eachincluding a plurality of transformer modules, each transformer module including a primary winding coupled to an input and a secondary winding coupled to an output, the inputs of each transformer module in one block assembly being coupled together and the outputs of each transformer block being coupled together. One of the secondary windings includes a plurality of taps structured to be selectivelycoupled to the output of the associated transformer module assembly or another secondary winding of the associated module assembly.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. 119(e) to U.S. Provisional Application Serial No. 62 / 489,197, filed April 24, 2017, and entitled "Flexible Voltage Transformation System" ,, the entire content of this US provisional application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to modular power transformers, and more particularly to power transformers comprising selectively interconnected multiple transformer modules. Background technique [0004] Power transformers are used in the transmission of energy from the point of energy generation to the point of energy usage. The generated energy is usually transmitted at high voltage over long distances to a substation where transformers step down the voltage level of the transmitted power for use by consumers. [0005] Power transformers include primary windings that receive varying current and voltage to generate...
