Embodiment Construction

[0055] Before the present methods and systems are disclosed and described, it is to be understood that the methods and systems are not limited to particular methods, particular components, or particular compositions. It is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting.

[0056] As used in the specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a", "an" and "the" include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Ranges are expressed herein as from "about" one particular value, and / or to "about" another particular value. When such a range is expressed, another embodiment includes from the one particular value and / or to the other particular value. Similarly, when values are expressed as approximations, by use of the prefix "about," it will be understood that the particular value forms another embodiment. It is further to be understood that the ...

Abstract

Described herein are systems and methods for evaluating and mitigating the wax risks of a given hydrocarbon composition such as crude oil. The disclosed systems and methods enable rapid and ready prediction of wax risks using algorithms based on a small sample of the hydrocarbon composition. The wax risks are predicted using predictive models developed from machine learning. The disclosed systemsand methods include mitigation strategies for wax risks that can include chemical additives, operation changes, and / or hydrocarbon blend.

Description

technical field [0001] Disclosed herein are methods of analyzing hydrocarbon samples, including methods of analyzing hydrocarbon samples to predict wax risk. More specifically, the methods and systems disclosed herein provide for quick and easy determination of the wax risk of hydrocarbon compositions and determination of optimal wax inhibitors / dispersants / dissolvers, and thereby by identifying hydrocarbon streams that present a wax risk and / or or chemical treatments for hydrocarbon streams of interest to improve wax risk mitigation in hydrocarbon production, transportation, refining, and refined hydrocarbon processing and use. Background technique [0002] Most of the hydrocarbons found on Earth occur naturally in crude oil, where decomposed organic matter provides an abundance of carbon and hydrogen that, when combined, can link together to form paraffin molecules with chain lengths of up to 100 carbons. The paraffin molecules precipitate and form a solid as the temperatu...
