Abstract

A method for estimating an ear geometry of an ear of a hearing device user with a hearing device is disclosed. The hearing device comprises an ear canal microphone, an external microphone and a receiver. The method comprises: obtaining an external input signal with the external microphone; and transmitting an output signal with the receiver. The method comprises obtaining an ear canal microphone input signal using the ear canal microphone; and estimating the ear geometry based on the external input signal and the ear canal microphone input signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a method of estimating the ear geometry of a user's ear of a hearing device using a hearing device and a related hearing device. Background technique [0002] Hearing device manufacturers have adopted laser scanning of traditional impressions as a method of obtaining a representation of the ear geometry. The optician takes an impression from the patient and sends the impression directly to the manufacturer. Unfortunately, impressions can become distorted in the mail due to untreated material and excessive temperatures in the delivery truck. This leads to an inaccurate impression of the geometry of the patient's ear, which in turn leads to an improper mechanical and acoustic fit of the hearing device. Contents of the invention [0003] Therefore, there is a need for a hearing device that can be used to estimate the ear geometry of a hearing device user's ear and a method of estimating ear geometry using a hearing de...
