Problems solved by technology

However, there are several challenges in implementing cooperative multi-connection transmission via relay
The first challenge is how to design a low-latency, and reliable protocol for coordinated multi-connection transmission without the help of the cellular network (e.g., UE is in RRC idle state or is out of coverage)
The second challenge is how to design low-latency, reliable protocols for cooperative multi-connection transmission under full or partial cellular network coverage
The third challenge is how to design a solution for cooperative node selection while minimizing the exchange of sidelink channel quality information between communicating devices and taking into account the future mobility of communicating devices
[0009] However, none of the above methods are designed for reliable, low-latency communication systems
Therefore, there is still a lack of th Generation, 5G) Heterogeneous Radio Access Technology (Radio Access Technology, RAT) relay network architecture and enhanced relay function for 5G cellular network communication system

Abstract

The invention relates to a base station (104) for cellular communication with a plurality of communication devices in a cellular communication network (100) using a cellular communication channel, wherein the plurality of communication devices include a transmitter communication device (101), a plurality of relay communication devices (102) and at least one receiver communication device (103-1, 103-2) and are configured for D2D communication with each other using a D2D communication channel. The base station (104) comprises: a communication interface (104a) configured to receive a request fromthe transmitter communication device (101) for transmitting a communication message from the transmitter communication device (101) to the at least one receiver communication device (103-1, 103-2); and a processor (104b) configured to select a subset of the plurality of relay communication devices (102) for relaying the communication message to the at least one receiver communication device (103-1, 103-2) and to configure the subset of relay communication devices (102) to relay the communication message using one of a plurality of relay modes, including a first relay mode and a second relay mode, wherein the first relay mode is an 'amplify and forward' relay mode and wherein the second relay mode is a 'decode and forward' relay mode.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of wireless communications. In particular, the present invention relates to a base station, a transmitter communication device and a corresponding method for cellular and D2D communication using one or more relay communication devices. Background technique [0002] D2D communication between vehicles is considered to be the key to improving road safety and preventing traffic congestion. The growing interest in applying wireless technologies to the vehicular environment has led to the development of technologies and protocols for data transmission between vehicles and between vehicles and road infrastructure. These emerging communication services, such as traffic safety, real-time remote monitoring, critical infrastructure control, and industrial autonomous control, bring new challenges to mobile radio networks. [0003] A key requirement for vehicular communication networks is to provide communicati...
