The detection method includes training a pedestrian sorter according to pre-collected training sample set, wherein the pedestrian sort is used for judging whether a to-be-detected image is a pedestrian image or not; performing calibration on a monitoring image so as to obtain conversion matrix parameters from an image coordinate system to a world coordinate system or from the world coordinate system to the image coordinate system; according to the conversion matrix parameters, generating a mapping relation required for reconstructing an upright standing posture from a non-upright standing posture in the monitoring image and generating horizon detection coordinates; mapping the horizon detection coordinates into the monitoring image, cutting an image block from the to-be-detected image, performing reconstruction on the image block by utilizing the mapping relation, and utilizing the pedestrian sorter for sorting the reconstructed image block.
