Abstract

The invention provides an optimization method and device for a VXLAN (Virtual Extensible Local Area Network) control plane. The method and the device are applied to a local VTEP (VXLAN Tunneling End Point) device. The method comprises the steps of receiving an ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) request message sent by a first VM (Virtual Machine) and learning an ARP table entry corresponding to the first VM; filling an MAC address of the first VM in the ARP table entry into an IP prefix route message; sending the IP prefix route message to an opposite VTEP device, thereby enabling the opposite VTEP device to establish a VXLAN tunnel with the local VTEP device based on the IP prefix route message, learn the ARP table entry corresponding to the first VM, and further return the learned ARP table entry corresponding to the first VM to a second VM when the ARP request message which is sent by the second VM and is used for requesting the MAC address of the first VM is received.
