The variable air volume air supply system comprise a fan, an air supply dry pipe electric air valve, electric air volume adjusting valves, a main control cabinet, a tail end control cabinet, temperature sensors and a static pressure sensor. The fan is arranged at a port of an air supply dry pipe. The air supply dry pipe electric air valve is arranged on the air supply dry pipe. The electric air volume adjusting valves are arranged on air supply branch pipes. Each temperature sensor is arranged in the corresponding subway equipment management room. The static pressure sensor is arranged at the tail end of a pipeline of the air supply dry pipe. The main control cabinet is electrically connected with the fan, the air supply dry pipe electric air valve and the static pressure sensor simultaneously. The tail end control cabinet is electrically connected with the electric air volume adjusting valves and the temperature sensors simultaneously. The invention further provides the control method of the variable air volume air supply system. The thermal comfort of the subway equipment management rooms is improved, and meanwhile efficient and energy saving operation of a whole transmission and distribution system is achieved.
