According to the method, cluster formation of an LEACH algorithm and a cluster-head selection algorithm are improved, firstly excellent convergence and global optimization capability of a BIRCH algorithm are utilized to reasonably segment a whole network area into multiple sub areas, two thresholds of the BIRCH, a cluster radius and the quantity of sub nodes of the cluster are mainly utilized to restrain clustering of the LEACH protocol, and a cluster head is selected through taking consideration of residual node energy in the sub areas.
