Embodiment Construction

[0050] As part of detailing the embodiments herein, a problem will first be identified and discussed.

[0051] According to the procedures discussed so far in 3GPP on how thresholds should be handled, per-terminal thresholds will not be possible in idle mode because the broadcasted thresholds will be applied by the terminal when entering idle mode. Hence, a terminal that directs its traffic to WLAN and thus enters idle mode will apply the broadcasted threshold and a per-terminal threshold for directing traffic back from WLAN to 3GPP is not possible.

[0052] Furthermore, if the conditions for directing traffic to the WLAN are not fulfilled based on broadcast thresholds, the terminal will direct its traffic back to the 3GPP network and return to connected mode where it can , is again provided with a terminal-specific threshold that triggers directing traffic to the WLAN and entering idle mode with respect to the 3GPP network. That is, an undesired ping-pong state may occur whe...

Abstract

A method in a terminal for inter RAT access selection is provided. The terminal is capable to operate in one or more RATs. The terminal receives (201) (202), from a network node, one or more dedicated parameters relating to inter RAT access selection, and one or more broadcasted parameters relating to inter RAT access selection. The one or more broadcasted parameters correspond to the respective one or more dedicated parameters. The one or more broadcasted parameters relate to inter RAT access selection. The terminal then acts (203) for inter RAT access selection according to any one out of: one or more updated dedicated parameters, updated based on changes to corresponding one or more broadcast parameters, and any one out of the one or more received dedicated parameters, updated dedicated parameters, or corresponding broadcasted parameters, based on whether one or more conditions are fulfilled or not.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments herein relate to terminals and methods thereof. In particular, it relates to the maintenance of parameters such as thresholds for radio access technology (RAT) inter-access selection. Background technique [0002] A communication device such as a terminal is also called eg User Equipment (UE), mobile terminal, wireless terminal and / or mobile station. Terminals are enabled to communicate wirelessly in a cellular communication network or wireless communication system (sometimes also referred to as a cellular radio system or cellular network). The communication may be via a radio access network (RAN) and possibly one or more core networks comprised within the cellular communication network, for example between two terminals, between a terminal and a conventional telephone and / or between a terminal and a server execute in between. [0003] A terminal may also be called a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a laptop computer or a surf pad with wi...
