The method comprises the following steps: (1) preparing a cutting matrix and a container; (2) collecting cuttings; (3) leaving spikes to stand; (4) sterilizing and disinfecting the spikes; (5) carrying out rooting hormone treatment; (6) inserting the treated spikes 2-3 cm into the matrix; cutting the tops of the spikes and uniformly smearing the cuts by using a tree wound healing agent; (7) carrying out rooting management; and (8) carrying out hardening-seedling management. The method disclosed by the invention not only can provide a nursery stock guarantee for scaled planting of tree spinach imported from the USA in China, but also can provide a propagation method for breeding high-yield single plants of tree spinach, and moreover, the offspring better retains excellent characteristics of the parents.
