The energy storage converter comprises energy storage units, inductors, an A-phase input and output end, a B-phase input and output end and a C-phase input and output end; and an inductor and n energy storage units are respectively connected in series between the A-phase input and output end, the B-phase input and output end and the C-phase input and output end, wherein n is a positive integer; and each energy storage unit includes a battery pack, a capacitor and a single-phase full-bridge inversion circuit, wherein the battery pack comprises a plurality of parallel-connected batteries, and the battery pack, the capacitor and the full-bridge inversion circuit are in parallel connection. With the energy storage converter and the balanced control method thereof of the invention adopted, series connection of a plurality of batteries can be avoided, when one battery malfunctions, the whole energy storage converter is not needed to be shut down, and a single battery balancing function can be realized, and an additional BMS is not needed to be adopted, and the available capacity of a whole energy storage system can be improved.
