The sub-screen display method includes the steps of receiving a sub-screen display instruction inputted by a user; conducting sub-screen display on started applications in a sub-screen window according to the sub-screen display instruction, wherein at least one encryption window is formed in the sub-screen window; conducting encryption on applications in the encryption window. According to the sub-screen display method, sub-screen display is conducted on the started applications on a screen, the encryption window is formed in the sub-screen window, encryption is conducted on the applications in the encryption window, all data produced when all the applications run in the encryption window are encrypted, the encrypted data can not be read when the applications are started in other sub-screen windows or in a non-sub-screen display mode, safety of the data and privacy of the user are protected, and user experience is improved.
