Problems solved by technology

Due to the relatively small size of this part, it is difficult to maintain a good sealing engagement with a snap fit, allowing the cap to "pop" when touched by the user during handling or dispensing, allowing the contents to spill and contaminate the container to its packaging food or medicine
[0003] Another problem with conventional containers is that the permeability of such containers often depends on the pores formed through the surface of the container

Embodiment Construction

[0020] Referring now to Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a sorbent canister in accordance with the present invention. As shown in Figure 2, the sorbent canister 2 includes a container 10 and a cover 20 that may be secured to the container 10 to form a unitary structure. Container 10 is preferably, but not necessarily, cylindrical for ease of manufacture. Container 10 includes side walls 12 and end walls 14 . A side wall 12 extends from an end wall 14 and defines an opening 16 opposite the end wall. End wall 14 is shown as relatively flat, but may be concave or convex as desired. Preferably, the container 10 is at least partly made of a material that the sorbent tank 2 is designed to be permeable to the absorbed gas, and more preferably the entire container 10 is formed of such a permeable material. Examples of materials from which container 10 may be formed include thermoplastic materials including, but not limited to, polyethylene terephthalate, polyolefins, HPMC or HDPE. ...

Abstract

A sorbent container includes a permeable plastic container, a permeable membrane, and a sorbent. The permeable plastic container includes a sidewall and an endwall, the sidewall defining an opening opposite the endwall. The permeable membrane is fused to the sidewall to cover the opening. A fused junction is formed between the sidewall and the permeable membrane. The sorbent is disposed within the plastic container.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to sorbent containers, and more particularly to a sorbent container that reduces the adverse effects of dust and allows viewing of the contents contained within the canister. Background technique [0002] Sorbent containers for use in food or pharmaceuticals, among other applications, have a number of problems. One problem is that the sorbent material disposed within the container can include very fine particles that can escape from the container and contaminate the product the sorbent container is designed to protect. This is especially true when the lid is snap fit or press fit onto the hollow cup or container that holds the sorbent, as in some conventional containers. Due to the relatively small size of this part, it is difficult to maintain a good sealing engagement with a snap fit, allowing the cap to "pop" when touched by the user during handling or dispensing, allowing the contents to spill and contaminat...
