The terminal receives the key seed sent back by the gateway according to the key seed gaining request. The terminal generates a key according to the key seed, and uses the key to encrypt files to be encrypted, or to decrypt files to be decrypted. The encryption and decryption method stores the files to be encrypted or the files to be decrypted in the terminal by storing the key seed on the gateway so as to achieve storage separating the key seed from the files to be encrypted or the files to be decrypted, and to guarantee the security of the key seed.
