The invention provides a cooling type dehumidifier for an electric cabinet, which comprises a semiconductor cooling plate, an environmental temperature and humidity acquisition module, a hot-end temperature monitoring module for the semiconductor cooling plate, a control module, a level conversion module, a fan and a shell; and the control module is used for controlling the working states of the semiconductor cooling plate and the fan according to the current temperature in the electric cabinet obtained via a sensor, the temperature of the hot end of the semiconductor cooling plate, the humidity threshold set in the control module and the maximum allowable working temperature of the hot end of the semiconductor cooling plate. By adopting the characteristic of easy condensation under large air temperature differences, very low temperature can be achieved at the cold end of the cooling plate, and moisture in air can be condensed at the cold end of the semiconductor cooling plate and discharged out of the box through a water discharging hole. Since the moisture in humid air in the electric cabinet can be condensed and discharged out of the box, the humidity of air can be reduced significantly, and the common humidity problem of the electric cabinet can be solved fundamentally.
