Abstract

The invention provides a method for address allocation of public networks, which comprises that a carrier-grade network (CGN) address translation device receives online messages of users and judges whether idle public network addresses exist in a public network address pool; if no idle public network address exists in the public network address pool or the quantity of the idle public network addresses is less than that of a presupposed threshold value of the idle public network addresses, the CGN device constructs and sends dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) requests to a DHCP server to apply for a public network address set; and the CGN device allocates a first public network address in the public network address set to the users.
