Abstract

The invention discloses a device for detecting hydrophobicity of a composite insulator of a power transmission line and a control method for the device. By measuring characteristic parameters, including discharge amplitudes, discharge times and time intervals between each two adjacent discharge amplitudes and between adjacent discharge time, of surface discharge of the composite insulator at different aging time and by analyzing the characteristic parameters, three spectrograms corresponding to surface discharge characteristics of the composite insulator at different aging time are obtained. Fractal dimension and similarity corresponding to the three spectrograms are obtained by analyzing the three spectrograms, the hydrophobicity of the composite insulator is detected in real time, the aged power transmission line is timely replaced according to aging degree, the stability of the power transmission line is improved, and the failure rate of the power transmission line is reduced. Moreover, as surface discharge current parameters are directly obtained, the device is less subjected to external interference and quite high in accuracy, and meets the requirements of practical application.
